So Behind!

What a summer! Full of ups and downs but I am so ready for fall! The holidays are right around the corner and the season is picking up! Soooo what's been going on with me since May.....Let's see...

Well summer started with the awesome trip to Antelope canyon as seen in my previous post. July came around and I went home to NY for 10 days...boy what a time! I got so lucky with some beautiful weather and got to spend some quality time with family and friends!

SuperBall IX with my best friend! Awesome!
Watkins Glen State Park (LOVE!!)

Monsoon storm in August

Summer turned out pretty awesome. August in Phoenix turned out to be brutal and I was super ready for a break in the heat.  This month I went back east yet again for an unexpected last minute trip. Sadly, my grandmother passed away and I went to be with my family. I was really glad I was able to...so lucky. I really love my family and the Lemon's do it right :)

While back I got to enjoy the peak of the fall foliage...my most favorite time of year. I was happy to get to drive around and enjoy it and yet again I was blessed with some fantastic weather!!

Lovely colors!

Family property...hope it isn't the last I get to spend time there.

Family home since 1953. <3

Again I was so happy to have been able to go back, be with family, and enjoy the scenery...cherished forever.

Now back 'home' in AZ I've finally gotten caught up with things I had planned to do here. Got the house all decorated for Halloween (my favorite!) and now my other job in catering is gearing up for a busy season which is awesome...need it. Also....

It's MYYY birthday!! Today as a matter of fact! :)

It's my little boy's birthday :) He's two today! Exciting. HAPPY FALL!!! xoxo

Summer Time!

Well hello everyone! It's been a rough month but I did make it out to shoot the Antelope Slot Canyon up in the Page, AZ area (below). Other than that busy busy working away, keeping the homestead up, and keeping my sanity alive and well! :) I will be taking a trip home to NY at the end of June/beginning of July so expect to see new stuff after that as well. I have some places in mind to go shoot...should be great!

ALSO I am working on a commission for a painting I've got going. It's for friends/family who have moved into a lovely new home with a rather giant wall in their living area. I am super excited about it and cannot wait to see it displayed in their home! I was having an off day on Sunday and decided to paint to try and get myself out of the funk. It worked, however, I had the largest case of painters block that I have ever had and the outcome of my therapy session was, as I said to a friend, that it was so hideous I hated it and was really discouraged by it.
BUT I bounced back the other day when inspiration took hold of me and I sketched over an image of the hideous work I had done and whaaalaaa...

sketch
This is an unfinished image of what I had done...so some slight modifications have been made but you get the idea. Notice the piece is made up of 5 different canvases which in total will be over 6 foot long by 3 feet high! My largest piece ever! :)

New photos!

I took a trip to the botanical gardens this past weekend. I love this place...I have the membership to prove it! ;) They were having their annual plant sale so I figured I'd go check it out. After I picked out some new plants for my yard I decided to spend time in the gardens and take some photos. The new butterfly exhibit was up and running and I always love spending time in there. Here are a few photos...

Loved it!

Latest!

It's been awhile! Phew! I've been busy with work and all but I've been keeping up with the creating as much as I can. I just finished up a series of paintings for my cousin that I sent out last week so I've been able to focus on generating for the masses :)

I really love this painting and I happened to sketch this out a few weeks ago so I've been itching to get it done. It's hanging on the wall until it sells. LOVE

I'm off to the Sea Lifa AZ aquarium tomorrow so hopefully I'll get some awesome sea creature shots for prints. Happy Friday!!

Completed!

And so it has been finished! Finally! It's taken a long time...with the detail I spent a lot of time on this piece...and I really do like it...

Hopefully someone else will too! :)

How to begin??

Well this morning I decided that I should at least get ONE blog on my site...get started...what does one talk about in their very first blog? Well I dont' know! Ha.

To start, I'm going to share my work space...where all the work is done (the painting anyway).

 Looking in.
Work table that pretty much just collects things. Oh and that quilt...my grandmother made for me. I have cats and I don't want them getting it all hairy by putting it on the guest bed...so I decided to hang it so I can enjoy it...I love it. The Mao poster I purchased at an antique mall in Beijing while I studied in China in 2004...sweet.

Aaaand this is where the painting happens. Less than fancy but it gets the job done. My old architecture trunk (which still has a bunch of crap in it) is the main work area while my dell computer box holds the paint, brushes, and water. And an old sheet protects and as you can see I need it because I get paint everywhere :)

Now...it's a little messy and unorganized. I recently retrieved my cute children's painting from the boutique they were in to get better photos of them to enhance the listings on my etsy...so now I just have piles of paintings everywhere. I tried to make it sort of orderly...sort of.

The space seems to work well. I'm waiting for one of my friends to make me a painting smock I can wear while painting...I seem to get paint on my clothes a lot as well. For now I drape a towel over my lap while I paint.

So there it is...where the magic happens, haha. I suppose it's time I get to it so I can get more paintings listed on my etsy. :) Happy Saturday!
